Vintage Snowmobile Show

Posted

On Saturday, March 2nd, snowmobile enthusiasts from around this area, and some from far away, made the trip to a snowless snowmobile show! But when you are a snowmobile enthusiast, does it matter whether or not there is snow on the ground? The answer to that question is a resounding "Heck no!"

There were a whopping 101 sleds registered this year, along with a new class- 1990 and older ATV's. There were also 8 three wheelers entered this year.

Registration started at 9 am, with the judging at 11 am. Last year's Best of Show winner was on display, as well as a whole lot more! People were milling about, looking at the vintage rides, as well as the racers and custom sleds. Bets were being made on the side as to who this year's winners would be. Congratulations to James Krusback with his 1980 Artic Cat Sno Pro, Rob Schnichels with his 1980 Artic Cat El Tigre, and Emerson Burke with his 1977 Polaris RXL for being this year's Best of Show Finalists,. And the Best of Show Winner was James Burke. Congratulations to all our winners, and to everyone who came out to Wana-Mingle! For a list of all the show winners, be sure to check out the Wanamingo Fire & Rescue Facebook page!

This year there were 9 entrants for the Firefighter Chili Cook Off. Wanamingo Fire was the FLASHOVER winner (Best tasting hot chili), Wanamingo was the IGNITION POINT (Best mild Chili), and this year's MUTUAL AID winner (Best chili over all, and over all winner) goes to Kenyon Volunteer Fire Department. Many thanks also go to Zumbrota and Cannon Falls Fire Departments for also bringing Chili to the event.

A raffle was held after the Chili Cook Off. With generous donations from local businesses and individuals, all the proceeds from the raffle benefit the needs of the Fire Department . The Firefighters wish to thank all the people who donated items for the raffle, as well as the sponsors and those who volunteer to make this event such a success. Sponsors are Indy Specialty, Cannon Motor Sports, Midwest Sign Tech, M & M Lawn & Leisure Superstore and Moto Proz of Mazeppa.

The Bean Bag Tournament started at 4:30 and went well into the evening . The event was well attended, and I hear it was a lot of fun, even though the snow failed to appear!
