Concert with Stones Cry, August 6th, 2:30 PM at Gol Lutheran Church in Kenyon

Posted

The music will include worship and inspirational songs in an easy listening style. 1999 was the beginning of “Sound Of The Trumpet” and is now “Stones Cry.” The inspiration for the new name comes from Luke 19:40. The ministry now consists of Joel Finnesgard, his wife (of 33 years) June and their children Joy (17) and Josiah (15). Joel is still playing the trumpet as well as electric guitar and keyboards. June is on drums, percussion and some singing. Joy is providing lead vocal along with acoustic guitar and keyboard. Josiah is playing the bass, some hollow body 12 string electric guitar and singing.

The Finnesgard family has lived in the Kenyon area since Kittel Finnesgaard moved to Holden township, from Gol, Norway in 1858. Kittel homesteaded his farm just half a mile from where the Gol Lutheran Church now stands and was very instrumental in establishing the church here. Kittel’s daughter Annette was an organist and vocalist at the church for many years and donated the first electric organ to Gol Lutheran Church. One of Kittel’s grandsons was also a well know choir director at the church. Their musical talents have continued through the years.

Joel is the grandson of Edwin Finnesgard who moved from Kenyon in 1906 to homestead in northwest North Dakota. The Finnesgards enjoy sharing this ministry throughout much of the country. Most winters find them in the southern half of the country and other regions during the rest of the year. More information, video, audio and concert dates can be found at www.stonescry.net. You can also follow them on Facebook at Stones Cry and Instagram @stonescryofficial A free-will offering will be received for Stones Cry. There will be root beer floats served after the concert.
