Frederick Jesse Halvorson

Frederick Jesse Halvorson, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 1st at his home in

Wanamingo. Fred was born on March 10, 1933, to C. Fredrick Halvorson and Jessie (Dimick)

Halvorson. He was raised on the family farm outside of Wanamingo. After high school, he joined the

Air Force and was trained as an electrician. He enjoyed traveling and was stationed in Texas, Japan,

Georgia, Maine and Greenland. While stationed in Albany, Georgia he met his wife, Elise (Mock)

Halvorson. They were united in marriage on December 4, 1954. After service, they moved back to the

family farm by Wanamingo where they raised their two sons, Fredrick and Kyle. Fred spent most his

life as a dairy and cash crop farmer. He was a member of Wanamingo Lutheran Church and served on

the board for both the church and the cemetery. Fred enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, watching the

local sports teams, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his sons Fredrick (Brenda) Halvorson of Cannon Falls and Kyle (Jody) Halvorson of

Wanamingo; grandchildren Corey (Mike) Lande, Tucker (Anna) Halvorson, Tyler (Bettina) Halvorson,

and Christopher Halvorson; and great-grandchildren Leon Halvorson, Claire Halvorson, Viveca Lande

and Maeve Lande.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elise; parents, C. Fredrick and Jessie; brother, Wallace

Halvorson; sister, Gretha Loken and brother-in-law, Obert Loken.

The memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2023, at Wanamingo Lutheran Church, with Pastor Dave Sorenson officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials will be donated to the Wanamingo Cemetery Fund.
